The Greater Cincinnati Homeless Coalition is a unified social action agency, fully committed to its ultimate goal: the eradication of homelessness with respect for the dignity and diversity of its membership, people experiencing homelessness and the community. Our Coalition works towards this goal by coordinating services, educating the public, and engaging in grassroots organizing and advocacy. Learn More ->

Advocacy and Organizing

Macro level advocacy movements focus on addressing systematic causes of homelessness in order to institute lasting, permanent change. The Coalition works with local officials, community groups, and individuals who have or are experiencing homelessness to prevent homelessness, fight for the rights of individuals experiencing homelessness, advocate for affordable housing and fight against the criminalization of the homelessness. Streetvibes is an alternative newspaper and part of the international street newspaper movement. Focusing on homelessness and social justice issues, Streetvibes reports the often-invisible story of poverty in our community. Streetvibes is also proud to include creative writing, poetry, articles, photography and interviews written by individuals who have, or are currently, experiencing homelessness. As a progressive news source, Streetvibes serves an educational function, and also provides a forum for dialogue for those often left unseen and unheard. It is published twice a month by the Greater Cincinnati Homeless Coalition, largely with the help of volunteers. Learn More ->

Education

The Homeless Coalition provides opportunities for all to learn more about the experience of homelessness and the steps it will take for us, as a community, to eradicate homelessness. Book a Speaker, Tour, Training, or other education event for your school, community or faith group. You choose the date, time, and location. Educational events are available for a small fee – please let us know how we can make your event successful. Learn More ->

Membership

Individual and Organizational Memberships are available. On behalf of our member organizations, we have been fighting for human services funding from the City of Cincinnati. We also fought to make the cold shelter a permanent fixture and constantly collaborates with other organizations to advocate for them. With a current shortage of at least 40,000 affordable homes in the area, we are now working in union with our member organizations to see the passing of a Homeless Bill of Rights and the funding for the Affordable Housing Trust Fund. There are many benefits to becoming a member. Learn More ->
