Thank you for making 2015 Shantytown a HUGE success in Cincinnati!
Whether you heard one of our great speakers – Willa, Melissa, Samuel, Deborah, Nyah, Lauren, Rhonda, or Cleo – or if you just held an event on your own, I am so grateful for the time and energy your put into Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month!
I would like to quickly share some great feedback that we received and ask you to take a few moments to give me feedback so I can improve what we do for next year.
“It’s safe to say that all 19 students felt that having you and Melissa there was the most impactful portion of the event for them. At the end of the programming Thursday night before bedtime we asked what stuck with them from the day and Melissa was everyone’s answer, so you definitely added a special dimension for us. You guys are doing great things!”
I would love to make next year’s Shantytown bigger and better, so please help me with some ideas by filling out this short survey: http://goo.gl/forms/jJkwzTmpqF
Some schools will be doing Shantytown in the Spring and even during the summer. Please remember that we are available year-round for Speaking Engagements and Activity Facilitation at your site. I also lead a Social Justice Tour in Over-the-Rhine that you can schedule on our website. We also offer a great opportunity for students to get experience through a Streetvibes Shadow Activity where they learn about the Anti-Solicitation Laws and actually get the opportunity to distribute Streetvibes – this gives them an idea of what it’s like to ask for help. Please use our website to sign up for these activities: https://cincihomeless.org/please-register-your-education-event-here/
Please let me know if you have any questions about our education program at the Homeless Coalition. I am overwhelmed (in a good way) with the outpouring of concern and compassion I’ve felt from all the students, staff, clergy, and laypersons, that I’ve been honored to interact with over the past few months. If you are interested in helping to continue the momentum, please get your students engaged in the 30-Day Challenge. It’s a fun way to learn more, teach more, and help the Homeless Coalition. Thank you for all that you do to help support the efforts of the Homeless Coalition!
I hope to see you soon!
