Do you want to get involved in a project with the Homeless Coalition? Maybe you have design skills? Or you’re good at making videos? Can you sing?
Help us by creating posters like this poster on Responding to Panhandling … or memes, and other sharable media on these topics:
|Affordable Housing||Livable Wages||Housing Protections|
We’d love it if you’d remix/remake/relaunch these ideas!
Create something to inform others about Hostile Design – not sure what it is, or if you need some inspiration, check out this article with pictures.
Person First Language
Using person-first language can be a way to show you can be an advocate for people experiencing homelessness. Attaching a label to someone erases their identities, and doesn’t show that homelessness is a temporary situation for most people. PersonFirstLanguageDraft of a poster/graphic that needs some of your help!
Housing in America has been exclusionary and unfair to people of color and other marginalized families and individuals. We are seeing rapid changes within neighborhoods that are resulting in residential displacement that negatively affects people of color disproportionately. Check out this .pdf resource for more information: Tactics of Gentrification
Want to help people understand some facts? Use our Fact Sheet to make an infographic or other media to illustrate a point about homelessness.
Or… help us get information out about our Education Programs. This current design needs to be more updated. Consider using images from our events, such as the Speaker’s Bureau, Streetvibes Shadow, Walking Tour, or Alternative Breaks posted on Affordable Housing Advocate’s Facebook.
Put your own spin/style/voice into your work!
If you have any questions, or need more info on any of these projects, please contact Dr. Mark at MarkMussman@cincihomeless.org. Make sure there is space for our logo and information about the Coalition (typically, at the bottom).
Please submit your work to MarkMussman@cincihomeless.org – if we like it, we will share it!
We appreciate the time you put in to help us educate people about affordable housing, livable wages, housing protections, and these other topics. We know it’s not easy – that’s why we are asking for your help!
**Note: If you’d like to submit your original art or written work to Streetvibes, please see Submission Guidelines.
